Within the SPRITE+ network, our Early Career Researchers (ECRs) are tackling important and challenging issues. They are using innovative methods; making new discoveries; asking important questions. They are the next generation of leaders. They are the Rising Stars.
We invite ECRs who are SPRITE+ Members or Expert Fellows to share their research story with the TIPS community as part of our Rising Stars series. If you've not yet registered for SPRITE+ Membership, you can do so (for free) here.
We will publish a different Rising Star each month in our newsletter, place the same content on a dedicated SPRITE+ webpage that is publicly accessible and share on our social media. This is a great opportunity for ECRs to showcase their research to a range of audiences from senior academics to stakeholder groups. This may be the start of a new collaboration or the seed to a future post, so we encourage ECRs to put any modesty aside and share their achievements.
The ECR should send a short (no longer than 500 words) ‘research story’ and a photograph of themselves to us at admin@spritehub.org (please enter: ‘Surname.RisingStar’ in the subject box).
The ‘research story’ should address the following points:
Nominations will normally come direct from the ECR. However, we are happy to receive names of nominees from others. In these cases, we ask that the nominator (if not the ECR) send to us the name of the nominee, the nominee’s affiliation and why they feel the nominee is a Rising Star. We will use this information to contact the ECR direct and ask them to share their research story.
At SPRITE+ we define an ECRs as being either a PhD student, post-doc RA, or first position lecturer (within 5 years of PhD). If you do not fall into one of these groups, but would like your work to be featured in our newsletter, please get in touch to discuss the possibility of writing a ‘career journey’.
