Zenith Ai is a leading AI start-up specialising in ML solutions for Life Sciences, particularly synthetic biology and cell engineering. As part of the Opentrons Labworks group we are supported by major investors SoftBank and Khosla Ventures as well as an established robotics and diagnostics business. With our partner company Neochromosome, we now aim to fully mobilise AI solutions to be an integral part of future biotechnology. Our principal research centre is in Belfast, UK and we have staff in London, Oxford, New York. Zenith does basic and applied research in vision, language, genomics, proteomics, and fundamental deep learning centred on data in the life sciences domain. We are interested in supporting anddeveloping cutting edge research ideas in these broad topics. We also build no-code solutions to deliver the resulting algorithms into usable technology for biologists. We have a partner network of leading academic institutions and are looking to expand this network by funding PhD research in UK Universities via this competition of ideas.
Academics from UK Universities are eligible to apply. Students should not apply directly. To be considered for funding, we invite you to send the following to email@example.com:
Applications will be considered based on the quality of the team, the relevance of the idea and the potential for scientific breakthrough and/or innovation. Success at this stage will lead to a detailed scoping discussion with Zenith research leadership. Studentships are awarded to the University, to an academic PI, but overheads will not be paid. If a registered accepted applicant is already in place at the University and is being proposed as part of the application for the Prize Studentship, their CV must be included, along with a statement of their suitability for the position, if successful. Preference will be given to applications which have a well-qualified student applicant in place and where the student is eligible for local UK/EU fees (international students will be considered). In all cases, payment of funding is conditional on the PhD student being accepted by the University and commencing studies. The award includes: a fully-funded 3-year PhD studentship; tuition fees and enhanced stipend; travel and equipment budget with industry internship; and, future job opportunities.
