10-25 January 2023: SPRITE+ Sandpit
We hosted our first hybrid Sandpit on Digital Identity over 5 sessions in January 2023.
22 November 2022: SPRITE+ Community of Interest - Communicating Cybersecurity
We discussed the following questions: who are the key people and organisations responsible for communicating cyber security? How to improve their effectiveness? Who are the key underserved groups? How to identify them and give them more agency?
26 May 2022: First Respond XR Webinar
The First RespondXR reseach team hosted a webinar that shared their research findings, as well as produced illustrations that offer a timeline and graphical overview of the deployment of Extended Reality (XR) technology for police training in England and Wales.
11-12 April 2022: SPRITE+ Expert Fellows Meeting
SPRITE+ hosted the Expert Fellows Meeting 2022 in-person over 11-12 April at the De Vere Cranage Estate in Holmes Chapel. Finally face-to-face, we brought together representatives and stakeholders from academia, industry, SMEs, regional and national Government and civil society organisations that make up our community of Expert Fellows
21 March 2022: 'Top Tips for ECRs: Being an Effective PI'
SPRITE+ held an online community-building workshop focused on welcoming attendees from across our network and the wider academic community to provide ECRs with hints and tips on how to lead a project team step-by-step, as they embark on their research careers.

SPRITE+ held an online event that welcomed attendees from across our network and the wider academic community to provide ECRs with hints and tips on how best to handle the demands of academic work.
27 January 2022: Community Building Event - Communicating Cybersecurity
SPRITE+ held an online community-building workshop focused on communicating cyber security. The aim of this workshop was to facilitate the building of potential collaborations and to explore opportunities for academics to partner with non-academic organisations to identify and explore the challenges of communicating cybersecurity from multiple disciplinary perspectives.
19 January 2022: Top Tips for ECRs - Applying for Academic Jobs
Hosted by Stacey Conchie (SPRITE+ Co-Director and Professor of Psychology at Lancaster University) with speaker Emma Barrett (SPRITE+ Director and Professor of Psychology, Security and Trust at University of Manchester), we provided a workshop for ECRs that presented a toolbox for the application and interview processes that will punctuate their future careers.
12 November 2021: ECR Workshop
Hosted in collaboration with the PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity, this workshop focused on hints and tips for successful stakeholder engagement. We welcomed an impressive line-up of contributors representing a diverse set of industries and sectors.
11 November 2021: Connecting the Greater Manchester Cyber Ecosystem

SPRITE+ partnered with the Greater Manchester Cyber Security Advisory Group to host an in person event to bring together representatives of the city-region’s cyber ecosystem in Greater Manchester. We were delighted to welcome 65 attendees representing academia, industry, SMEs, regional and national Government and civil society organisations.
10 November 2021: Funder webinar
SPRITE+ has launched a series of short virtual events to highlight funding opportunities for research and knowledge transfer in digital security, privacy, identity and trust. The third in this series was with the team leading the ESRC Digital Security by Design Social Science Hub+ (Discribe).
06 October 2021: Building a Community of Interest in Digital Identity and Age Assurance
SPRITE+ hosted a community building event in collaboration with our project partners at the Age Check Certification Scheme and The Alan Turing Institute Digital Identity Interest Group.
13 September 2021: THRIDI: Trust in Home: Rethinking Interface Design in IoT
SPRITE+ hosted a workshop relating to rethinking interface design in IoT.
11 August 2021: SPRITE+ Top Tips for ECRs, 'Use of small grants'
Dr Karena Kyne (Lancaster University) and Dr Nathan Smith (University of Manchester) discussed their experience of running projects with small grants.

25 May 2021: Digital Technologies, Power and Control Working Group Stakeholder Meeting
OnlineThe SPRITE+ Digital Technologies Power and Control project (DTPC) hosted a workshop for stakeholders on the 25 May, 2021. It brought together a range of organisations, all of whom were keen to discuss trust, identity, privacy and security (TIPS) in the digital age. During the workshop, there was a focus upon the people who use digital technology to access products or services and not the organisations who purvey them.

16 March 2021: Trusted Research Workshop
SPRITE+ hosted a workshop on the topic of 'Trusted Research' (see https://www.cpni.gov.uk/trusted-research) in collaboration with CPNI/NCSC. The workshop explored the implications of 'Trusted Research' guidance for ‘coal face’ PIs and their teams, examining the barriers to awareness and implementation, and suggesting ways to improve the situation. Short talks were provided by Professor Anthony Finkelstein (Chief Scientific Advisor for National Security) and Professor Sir Peter Gregson (VC of Cranfield University and Universities UK lead for Trusted Research), which highlighted the increasing importance of this topic.

Attendees heard from the SPRITE+ funded projects teams, engaged in breakout discussion and interactive virtual poster presentations.
14 December 2020: Digital Technologies, Power and Control Working Group Stakeholder Meeting
At this meeting, the Challenge Working Group (CWG) held a discussion about the pressing topics they have identified on digital technologies, power, control and trust, identity, privacy and security. The CWG is considering how marginalised voices are being heard (or not) and if future technologies can prevent deepening of the digital divide.
08 December 2020: Digital Responsibility workshop
We ran a joint event with the Research Institute for Sociotechnical Cyber Security (RISCS) on the topic of digital responsibility led by Prof Lizzie Coles-Kemp (Royal Holloway University of London).
18 November 2020: COVID and the growth of “Shadow infrastructures”
The SPRITE+ funded interdisciplinary project team, including expertise from engineering, transport studies, global development, sociology, and policing hosted an interactive workshop to discuss the opportunities and risks ‘shadow infrastructures’ present.
18 September 2020: ECR Workshop
This workshop focused on writing successful grant applications. We welcomed an impressive line-up of contributors with extensive experience in securing and/or awarding funding.
13-27 July 2020: SPRITE+ Sandpit
We hosted our first online Sandpit on Trust, Identity, Privacy, and Security in the post-Covid Digital Economy over 5 sessions in July 2020.
09 June 2020: Accountability & Ethics Workshop
Dr Jonathan Foster (University of Sheffield) and Dr Julie Gore (University of Bath) hosted the first workshop for the Accountability & Ethics in a Digital Ecosystem' Challenge Working Group.
11 May 2020: SPRITE+ Showcase
We hosted our first virtual showcase event for SPRITE+ Members and cognate organisations to discuss hot topics in digital trust, identity, privacy, and security.

We hosted a gathering for our Challenge Working Groups to meet our Project Partners and Stakeholders. Together they identified opportunities to work together and devised ideas for the SPRITE+ sandpit.
